Just kidding, the second most electryfing player in men’s tennis captured the Pac Life Crown after Roger Federer lost in the worlds biggest upset in an early round.

Rafael Nadal won his first tournament since the ‘06 French Open. That’s a winless drought of twelve tourney’s over the course of eight months, which is very uncustomary for Nadal, who’s won seventeen tournaments since 2005. But with every male tennis players arch nemesis, Roger Federer, out of the picture, Nadal cruised his way to victory. Rafael made quick work of his young opponent Novak Djokovic, taking the win in straight sets in just over an hour and a half.

Nadal, who’s been ranked number two behind Federer for the last 86 weeks seemed happy to have picked up his first win in eight months. He doesn’t seem hell bent on dethroning Federer as the number one ranked man in professional tennis commenting to reporters that, “Roger is the best in history, I just want to keep winning tournaments and continue being high in the rankings.”

Rafael Nadal is an amazing athlete, a truly incredible tennis player. His game on clay is unparalleled and at twenty years of age he’s already had two winning streaks in excess twenty matches. If there is a downside, it’s that he’s coming into his own during the reign of Roger the Great, but I guess playing second chair to a guy like Federer ain’t all that bad. Nadal is only twenty, making him five years Federer’s junior, which still could mean that in a few years down the line we’ll be seeing a changing of the guard, and the young Spanish star will be in the spotlght rather than the shadow.
