Taylor Takes Top Honors
The Professional Darts Corporation held their inaugural awards gala last week in London and Phil Taylor pulled down the top honor of Player of the Year.

Taylor started off the year in good fashion winning a record thirteenth World Championship title, that was just the beginning. Phil went on to take the top spots through 2006 in each of the following: the Holsten Premier League, the Stan James World Matchplay, the World Series of Darts and the SkyBet World Grand Prix.
Taylor placed second in the Ladbrokes.com World Championship, losing in the final to Raymond van Barneveld. At the awards ceremony Taylor expressed disappoinment in the loss but aknowledged the fact that Barneveld would be a worthy champion that would put up a good fight before being dethroned.
Van Barneveld captured two awards of his own, taking home the award for the best newcomer, and a “fan favorite” player of the year, but the night and the year belonged to Phil Taylor
