Battle of the undefeated

It’s week 6 of the NFL season, and everything has been turned upside down, at least, in the NFC it has…but first, the “big showdown”, the 5-0 Pats at the 5-0 ‘Boys, Only the 5th time in history that two teams at 5-0 or better have faced off, but whats making this headline news across the board is that of the receivers, or as everyone else has been talking about, the 81 showdown, T.O. vs. Moss.
T.O. struck first, after practice leaving a note on his locker, which read as follows:
“Dear Reporters,
Due to the magnitude of this week’s game and high volume of questions for the Original 81 about the other 81. I will be taking all questions immediately following Sunday’s game.
Sincerely, (followed by Owens’ signature)”
“p.s. Getcha Popcorn Ready.”
Of course the “other 81″ he is referring to is Randy Moss, who is letting his stats do the talking as he currently leads the NFL with 34 receptions for 551 yards and 7 TD’s. and while T.O.’s numbers aren’t shabby, (21 receptions/387 yds/3 TD’s) he certainly isn’t letting the stats take his spotlight. But then there is the QB situation, or rather, the shoot-out situation, since this is how the match is shaping up to be (that could be down to the lacklustre pass defence of the Cowboys). Romo will be playing his 16th career start, and when compared to Tom Brady’s first 15 games, or anybodys for that matter, Romo is on fire, throwing for over 4,000 yards and having a rating over 100, but coming off a game in which he threw 5 interceptions and fumbled the ball, its going to require a big return to form to go against the current number 1 defence in the NFL. But we are looking at a team that has improved from last year, and they beat the 9-0 Colts.
My prediction: even i have to respect how well the Pats are playing right now and go against my fave team; Pats 38-21 Cowboys.

My favorite time of year is College Football season. With my Big Ten, U of M Wolverines set to play on September 1, 2007 I was anxiously anticipating the first game of the season. I even planned to have a little party. That was until I found out that I CANNOT watch the game. Why, do you ask? Because it will be played on the Big Ten Network, a network I would have if the network and my digital cable provider, Comcast, could reach an agreement. Sure, they are playing a smaller school, Appalachian State, but shouldn’t I still have the right to see the game?
You’d think that after everything Michael Vick had done (66 dogs were seized from his home, they found something called rape stands (used to make the dogs more mean and aggressive - and yes they were used for what the name implies) in his possession, he participated (and admitted to it) in the murder of dogs, and he admitted to running a dog fighting ring near his home) that the Atlanta Falcons would wise up and fire him.
There are some sports that dominate the summer Olympics. In my house one of those sports is swimming. Of course, in the 2004 Olympics it was hard not to watch the swimming competition. Michael Phelps had everyone sitting on the edge of their seats back then and it seems like he’s not letting up when it comes time for 2008.
New information has become available in the Rod Beck death case. While the toxicology reports are not yet back and the cause of death is still unknown, police are releasing information about what had been found at the scene. Rod Beck, a 38 year old relief pitcher who played for the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs was found dead on June 23 in his home, which is located in the northeastern part of Phoenix, Arizona.
Where will the World Cup be in 2014? If all goes well, it might head across the Atlantic to Brazil. The South American country, which is known for its outstanding football team, has officially placed a bid to host the World Cup for the 2014 FIFA Games. The bid was submitted this week in Zurich before a FIFA board. A special Brazilian delegation first spent 30 minutes visually presenting their bid. Then they turned a dossier with further details over to the FIFA board to examine and make a determination on their request.
One of the greatest coaches in the history of the San Francisco 49ers has died. After battling leukemia, the most difficult battle he endured in 75 years, Bill Walsh finally lost his battle on Monday, July 30, 2007. Walsh passed away with his loved ones present by his side at his Woodside home. Leukemia, which apparently runs in the family, took the life of one of his sons, Steve, in 2002. Steve, a reporter for ABC, was only 46 when he died.
The Minnesota Twins didn’t have a chance with Magglio Ordoñez in the game tonight. The Venezuelan batting wonder is responsible for all three RBIs for the evening (It’s truly no wonder he’s batting .419 against Twins pitcher Santana). Without him, the Tigers would not have won their second game at the Metrodome in Minneapolis with a score of 3-2. In this series, the scores have been close, with just two games played against the Twins. In fact, yesterday’s game was also just one point apart, with the Tigers winning 1-0.

I have never been a big fan of bicycling. Sure, it’s a great way to get exercise, but perhaps because I never had the opportunity to ride a bike minus one with training wheels (I have a muscle disease and am now in a wheelchair) I just never got the “cycling excitement”. Every time the Tour de France is held, I listen to the chattering going on around me (it is hard not to with so many Americans being accused of using illegal drugs each year), but I don’t really get the whole “Tour fascination”.
