David Beckham helped his new football team, the L.A. Galaxy win the first game in which he played. The Galaxy beat the D.C. United 2-0 with one goal scored by the British superstar player. His first appearance in the MLS was playing for the Galaxy in the SuperLiga semifinals. While there was a lot of speculation about how Beckham would do in his first American football performance his team and fans were more than pleased with the way things transpired.

Beckham scored during a free kick that took place within the first 30 minutes of the game. He also had a hand in the second goal, passing to Landon Donovan, who scored, and receiving an assist for his efforts. This was scored a little over a quarter of an hour into the game making the score 2-0 and sealing the win for the Galaxy.

This game included Beckham’s first foul and yellow card for fouling one of D.C’s players within the first twenty minutes of the game. With so many firsts in one game, Beckham must be feeling at least a little bit overwhelmed. Beckham hadn’t gotten the chance to warm up as he would have liked.

Though he was introduced to fans on the 13th of July, this was his first time playing with the Galaxy. He was proud to last in the game over an hour at 63 minutes of game play. His teammates and coach are excited about the damage he can do to other teams once he’s playing and practicing again on a daily basis.

Beckham has received praise from his teammates. Not only is he a great player, his teammates have found the former European football star to be an inspiration to the team. He helps them to strive to be better players on the field. The Galaxy will head out to play in the final tournament, which is against Pachuca, a team from Mexico. Pachuca tied with Houston in the semi-finals though they won in penalty kicks by a 4-3 lead. The winner of the tournament wins $1 Million dollars less than 1/6 the amount the Galaxy paid for Beckham to come play for the team.
